ABOUT THE ROLE

The Aquafit Fitness Instructor is responsible for planning and instructing high-quality aquatic fitness classes, as assigned by the Aquatic Manager, in a manner that promotes the safe and effective development of health and fitness for participants.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certification in Aquafit, Water Fitness, or Group Fitness from a recognized organization (e.g., AEA, CALA, YMCA).
• Standard First Aid certification
• CPR and/or AED certification
• WHMIS certification
• Must provide a satisfactory Police Criminal Records Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check.
• Previous experience in leading group fitness classes is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of fitness principles, exercise physiology, and nutrition.
• Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies and the incorporation of music, tempo, cueing technique, and rhythm.
• Ability to be professional and motivate class participants.
• Knowledge of water safety and best practices for exercising in aquatic settings.
• Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Part-time - preset schedule (minimum 3hrs - maximum 5hrs) 
• Wage: $30.00 - 33.00/ hour
